This tool checks the address coordinate the Census Bureau's geocoder returns against a simplified version of each system's EPA service-area boundary — the same boundaries plotted on the statewide map, simplified to about 50 meters of tolerance so this page loads quickly (small enough that it essentially never changes which side of a boundary an address falls on). 135 of 146 boundaries are EPA-modeled estimates; 11 are boundaries the system or state itself submitted to EPA — neither is a legal boundary. 80 systems have no boundary on file yet and can't be checked here; see the full directory for those. An address that falls just outside a boundary — within 300 meters of the edge — is reported as "at or near the edge" and names the system, rather than a flat no-match: both the Census geocoder's address-range interpolation and these modeled boundaries carry their own error on the order of meters to tens of meters, well past what a hard inside/outside line can honestly resolve at that scale.
